UFC 116 Weigh In 2010

Today’s ceremony was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The same place hosts Boards Saturday per species and Spike TV-broadcast event.

A crowd of several thousand fans rose from their seats and welcomed on the interim heavyweight Shane Carwin, while heavyweight Brock Lesnar scattered boos, as he got on the scale.

Both fighters massive power, weighing the right to 265-pound limit for their fight, and although their staredown was intense, there was no pre-fight theatrics or fight.

Most of the men on the 11-bout card greeted warmly, and the biggest laugh came the day when the event host Joe Rogan introduced the return of Seth Petruzelli as “the man who single-handedly brought down EliteXC”. This was, of course, shocking knockout Petruzelli in the former soloist of EliteXC Kevin Kimbo Slice “Ferguson had preceded the death of the organization in a month.

Lightweight contender Kurt Pellegrino was also responsible for one of the stranger moments of the evening, when – after the enemy has moved to George Sotiropoulos face to face staredown - “Batman” turned to his right and briefly a square with UFC president Dana White. Pellegrino and white enjoyed quick to laugh, but remained indifferent Sotiropoulos – and seemed a bit irritated – at all.
